Vitel Wireless has officially rolled out its nationwide mobile services, becoming Nigeria’s first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) to receive a unique number range 0712 from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). This marks a historic moment in the evolution of the country’s telecom sector.
In its commercial debut, Vitel released 50,000 SIM cards and eSIMs across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This initial phase targets a select group of subscribers, part of a broader plan to ensure smooth onboarding and maintain network stability as usage grows.
To support nationwide coverage, Vitel has entered into a strategic roaming partnership with MTN Nigeria. This collaboration enables subscribers to tap into MTN’s existing infrastructure, offering reliable connectivity even in hard-to-reach areas. According to the company, the partnership brings enhanced signal strength, extended data usability, and seamless access benefits tailored to meet the modern mobile user’s lifestyle.
Chudi Nwabueze, Chief Operating Officer at Vitel Wireless, described the launch as a bold step toward creating a more inclusive and digital-first telecom ecosystem in Nigeria. He also confirmed that Vitel has successfully completed interconnectivity with all major mobile network operators in the country. This means users can make calls, send messages, and access data nationwide without network restrictions while Vitel continues to operate as an independent virtual network.
Positioning itself as a forward-thinking and customer-centric brand, Vitel Wireless is bringing a fresh approach to mobile services in Nigeria. From smart data usage to dependable voice and SMS, the company aims to make mobile connectivity more accessible, reliable, and flexible for Nigerians everywhere.
Consumers can now purchase Vitel SIMs through direct sales or from select retail partners nationwide.
