Famasi Launches CareCapital for Women to Empower Female Pharmacy Owners in Nigeria.

Share

In a bold move to transform Nigeria’s pharmaceutical landscape, Famasi, a leading pharmacy platform in Nigeria, has officially launched CareCapital for Women, a six-week immersive initiative tailored to empower female-led and female-owned pharmacies.

Closing the Gap in Pharmacy Finance

In Nigeria today, 83% of community pharmacies lack access to institutional finance. This financing gap significantly limits their ability to stock essential medicines, hire staff, adopt modern systems, or even expand their locations. For many women in the pharmaceutical sector, this gap is even wider due to systemic barriers around funding, mentorship, and access to networks.

Famasi’s CareCapital for Women is stepping in to change that.

What is CareCapital for Women?

CareCapital for Women is a targeted accelerator programme that combines funding, training, and strategic support for women in pharmacy. Over the course of six weeks, participants will receive:

Business Development Training – Covering financial literacy, inventory management, marketing, leadership, and operations.

Access to Capital – With flexible financing options tailored for pharmacies.

Direct Funding Support – Select participants   receive growth capital to scale their businesses.

Mentorship & Community – Through hands-on coaching and access to a network of pharmacy experts and successful entrepreneurs.

Why Women? Why Now?

The pharmaceutical industry is a vital part of Nigeria’s healthcare system, yet many of its key players, particularly women, are under-resourced. Female pharmacists often face steeper challenges when it comes to scaling their operations or accessing credit. Famasi is addressing this inequity head-on.

According to the company, the goal is to equip 100 female pharmacy owners over the next year, building a more resilient, better-distributed pharmacy network across Nigeria.

Building for Impact

By focusing on women in pharmacy, Famasi is not just empowering individuals. It’s strengthening Nigeria’s entire healthcare supply chain. Better-run pharmacies mean better access to medicines, more jobs, and improved public health outcomes at the community level.

This initiative aligns with Famasi’s broader mission: to create a stronger, tech-enabled pharmacy ecosystem in Africa, one where pharmacists don’t just survive but thrive.

Applications Now Open

Applications for the first CareCapital for Women cohort are now open. If you’re a female pharmacy owner or lead a pharmacy business in Nigeria, this is your opportunity to gain access to the resources, tools, and capital you need to grow.
