The YC-backed food delivery startup Chowdeck has hit an impressive milestone: over 1 million orders in just 1 month! This achievement underscores the company’s rapid growth, expanding reach across Nigeria, and bold step into Ghana.
According to Femi Aluko, CEO of Chowdeck, the company has seen a sharp increase in daily order volume, rising from an average of around 30,000 to over 40,000 in recent weeks. Aluko noted that this surge underscores the rising demand for fast and reliable delivery services across Nigeria’s major cities, even amid ongoing challenges in the logistics sector. He added that the pace of this growth reflects Chowdeck’s widening reach across Nigerian cities and its recent expansion into Ghana, marking another milestone in the company’s regional growth strategy.
Founded in 2021, Chowdeck has rapidly established a strong foothold in the food delivery space through speed, reliability, and customer-centric innovation. Its signature initiatives, including the “Rider Games” program, ChowScore loyalty system, and referral discounts, have played a key role in attracting and retaining a fast-growing user base.
What started with just a few hundred customers has evolved into a platform serving over one million monthly users across Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and several other cities.
A deliberate expansion strategy has driven Chowdeck’s growth. In June 2025, the company acquired Mira, a point-of-sale startup founded by former employees of Flutterwave and Paystack. The acquisition strengthened Chowdeck’s merchant ecosystem by integrating tools for payment processing, inventory management, and merchant financing, reinforcing its vision for quick commerce across Africa. This was followed by a $9 million Series A round in August 2025, led by Novastar Ventures, to accelerate its quick commerce strategy and scale operations across Nigeria and Ghana.
The company’s Ghana expansion, launched earlier in 2025, has been equally impressive. Chowdeck reached 1,000 daily orders within just three months, a rate three times faster than its initial growth in Nigeria. This milestone highlights both the strong market demand and the operational efficiency the company has built over time.
Chowdeck’s robust, tech-driven network now powers over 20,000 riders across 11 cities, serving a user base of 1.5 million people. More than just a delivery platform, the company has evolved into a strategic partner for restaurants and retailers, providing a full suite of solutions spanning logistics, inventory management, payment processing, and merchant support.
This latest milestone underscores Chowdeck’s expanding footprint in Nigeria, where it now serves over one million monthly users across major cities, including Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. Its 2025 expansion into Ghana has also been remarkable, achieving 1,000 daily orders in just three months, a growth pace three times faster than its initial trajectory in Nigeria.
Acknowledging the operational pressures that come with such rapid expansion, Femi Aluko, CEO of Chowdeck, expressed confidence in the company’s direction.
“This milestone proves that we are on the right path in building our vision,” Aluko said, emphasizing the team’s ongoing commitment to improvement and adaptation.
Chowdeck’s success is particularly noteworthy in a market where major competitors like Jumia Food and Bolt Food have exited due to thin margins and high operational costs. Its ability to thrive in challenging conditions highlights Chowdeck’s resilience, innovation, and strong positioning as a leading player in West Africa’s evolving convenience economy.
